JARUM was born in Moravia, a neighborhood in Medellín once defined by one of the city’s largest landfills. What was once a place of waste and exclusion has become a symbol of transformation—showing that even the most overlooked spaces can be brought back to life.
With a deep commitment to both people and planet, JARUM works at the intersection of environmental regeneration and urban ecological routes. Through urban gardening, ecological education, and hands-on training, the organization creates opportunities for local residents to reconnect with nature while building skills and livelihoods. Children grow up learning to care for their environment, while adults become active participants in reshaping their community.
But JARUM is about more than green spaces—it is about restoring dignity, pride, and possibility. By turning degraded land into thriving ecosystems, and involving the community every step of the way, JARUM is helping Moravia rewrite its story: from a past marked by neglect to a future rooted in sustainability, resilience, and hope.
