Casa de la Chinca was founded in 1961 with a clear mission: to protect and empower girls and young women at risk of abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Created as a safe refuge in Medellín, the foundation sought to provide more than shelter. From its earliest days, it offered education, care, and guidance so that every girl could envision a future beyond her immediate circumstances, grounded in dignity and love.
Today, Casa de la Chinca operates as a comprehensive internado that welcomes girls and adolescents between the ages of 7 and 17, as well as young women up to 25 through its university program. Services include housing, food, medical care, emotional and psychological support, and opportunities for formal education and vocational training. Programs such as Guardianas de tus Derechos focus on prevention and empowerment, while Casa Universitaria supports young women as they transition into higher education, independent living, and professional development.
The impact of this work is profound. Vulnerable girls find safety, stability, and the tools to grow into confident young women. Families and communities benefit as these women return with the skills and independence to contribute positively to society. Casa de la Chinca not only protects children in crisis but also transforms futures, ensuring that resilience and empowerment define the next generation.
